It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform of the death of Wolfgang Weiss, the former Head of the Radiation Protection and Health Department at the Federal Office for Radiation Protection, Germany, the co-founder of MELODI and its first chair. Wolfgang significantly contributed to developments of the system of radiation protection and devoted much of his time and efforts to setting up and running MELODI. He was also very active in UNSCEAR which he chaired, the ICRP and IRPA. His expertise and constant willingness to optimize radiation protection for humans and the environment, to encourage scientists to engage outside the box and to help in running the platform will be severely missed. Our most sincere condolences to his family.
